This is my fourth Miata and it is far and away the best Miata
ever made... newer or older. It has all the built-in fun of a Miata
but with the power to match the handling. A Miata with balls!!!
But with the confidence of a factory turbo installation. This car has almost every MAZDASPEED performance option available
standard from the factory and originally under a 4 year warranty. It is a
conservative design that makes them just as reliable as a normal Miata.
My goal has been to keep the car absolutely stock
in appearance and to maintain reliability, everyday drive-ability
and stock noise levels... while bringing out the performance
potential that is in every MSM. After installing the
boost gauge, I realized that the OEM setup was getting only about
6 lbs of boost and only for short bursts and at only high RPMs.
And at the same time the 6-speed close ratio gearbox and the the
very short geared 4.1 diff made it very awkward to get the engine
up to boost level for enough time to get the 180+ HP out off the
car. You had to skip gears to keep the engine anywhere near
optimum boost.
I made the $1500 upgrade of the diff to a
longer 3.6 gear ratio using parts imported from Mazda Australia.
This is now setup the way it was sold in Australia and Europe
with gear ratios that allow the powerful 180+ HP engine to
perform to its potential. I have also made some
conservative upgrades to the the intake plumbing, the leaky stock
blow off valve and the OEM boost controller. That lets me
run the engine at a conservative 9 psi, well within the stock
ECU's capabilities, while improving the torque by 17%. The
performance improvement is documented with Mustang dyno runs.
All the replaced stock parts and documentation
for all upgrades are included along with any spare parts I have.
The car also comes with the official Mazda Workshop Manual,
Wiring Diagrams Manual and the 2004 MSM Dealer Tech Summary.
The odometer mileage reading is currently is 43,700
